The programme will be facilitated by myself, Sue Weterings a passionate photographer with many hours of experience photographing in this, my favourite part of Aotearoa, the Queen Charlotte Sound.
The retreat will be based out of the `Lazy Fish Lodge' which is privately owned and operated by our family. A unique and stunning place that offers so many special features, making it a photographers dream location.
With it being winter in the Sounds, the weather can be changeable and vary on any given day. This means our programme needs to be flexible to accommodate what ever photographic opportunities present themselves.
The retreat will commence at midday on July 27th with a water taxi ride from the Picton Marina to the Lazy Fish, (accessible only by water) and conclude on 30th arriving back at the Picton Marina mid afternoon.
Each day we will begin with capturing the early morning light and mood of the Sounds. Following a healthy breakfast we will venture out into the Sounds visiting some favourite locations: including predator free islands, where we have the opportunity to sight Kiwi, Kereru, South Island Robins, Saddlebacks, little Blue Penguins and numerous other native birds. Historical sites infamous to the Sounds, including the old whaling Station, various landscape sites, water falls, seascapes and along the way hopefully enjoying a display of the local dusky and/or bottlenose dolphin and seal life.
Arriving back at the lodge in the late afternoon to a warm fire, we will have time to download, review and process your images of the day, before venturing out either before or after dinner to catch the evening light or the stars.
NB: Non photographing partners are welcome to attend. Cost$1800
